Day 1: Background Knowledge Training
This session covers key components of the Science of Reading and focuses on building critical literacy knowledge for educators. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the research base and the rationale behind the design of the UFLI Foundations program.
Day 2: UFLI Foundations Implementation
This session provides an overview of the UFLI Foundations program and offers in-depth training on each of the lesson steps, including opportunities to practice and refine instructional strategies.

Pop-Up Academy for Coaches and Leaders – Gainesville, FL
June 13-14, 2026
The UFLI Pop-Up Academy for Coaches and Leaders is a two-day professional learning experience for those who support teachers: literacy coaches, school leaders, and district leaders. This event is designed to develop understanding of how to support effective implementation of UFLI Foundations through leadership practices that promote high-quality instruction and long-term sustainability.
Day 1: Essential Background Knowledge and UFLI Foundations Implementation Overview
This session addresses the “what, why, and how” of UFLI Foundations. Participants will get a program overview and explore the essential background knowledge behind the UFLI model. They will also deepen their understanding of the UFLI lesson and its key instructional practices and routines.
Day 2: Supporting UFLI Foundations Implementation Fidelity and Sustainable Implementation
This session focuses on supporting implementation fidelity, using our coaching model to provide targeted feedback, and developing systems that support sustainable implementation. Participants will also engage in role-specific breakout sessions to learn alongside colleagues.
Attendees will leave with actionable, concrete plans and tools to support implementation and long-term sustainability within their own contexts.

UFLI Virtual Academy

What is the UFLI Virtual Academy?
The UFLI Virtual Academy pilot includes the same content as our Pop-Up Academy – a deep dive into essential background knowledge and UFLI Foundations implementation – but delivered online.
Participants will go through the training with small cohorts of fellow educators, facilitated in real time by a UFLI Implementation Specialist. Cohorts will be able to participate in activities and engage with one another throughout the experience.
